Semolina Waffles

Preparation Time: 15 mins.
Cooking Time: 20to 30 mins.
Serves 4.
Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup semolina (rava)
  • 3/4 cup plain flour (maida)
  • 5 tbsp curds (dahi)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
  • 1/2 cup chopped cabbage
  • 2 tbsp cooked corn (makai ke dane) (optional)
  • a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 4 to 6 green chillies, chopped
  • a pinch of sugar (optional)
For serving
  • grated processed cheese
  • Green Chutney (Chaat)
Method
  1. Sieve the semolina and plain flour.
  2. Add the curds, 2 to 3 tablespoon of warm water and baking powder and mix into a batter. Keep aside.
  3. After about 2 hours, add the remaining ingredients.
  4. Pre-heat the waffle iron and pour ¾ cup of the mixture in the centre of the iron and close the lid. Bake for approx. 7 minutes, till the waffles are golden in colour.
  5. Repeat with the rest of the batter to make more waffles.
  6. Serve hot with butter and grated cheese.
