Khakhra

Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Makes 4 khakras
Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp oil
  • whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling

Method

  1. Combine the flour, salt and 1 tbsp of oil in a bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll out each portion into very thin rounds with help of a little flour.
  3. Cook each khakhra lightly for a few seconds on both sides on a tawa (griddle).
  4. Apply a little oil and cook again on a slow flame until crisp using little pressure with help of a cloth.
  5. Remove from the flame and allow to cool.
  6. Store in an air-tight jar.
