Ingredients :
150 gms quick cooking rolled oats
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 red chilli
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
1 tsp chopped green chillies
300 gms water
salt to taste
For The Garnish
3 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
For Serving
coconut chutney
Method :
Dry roast the oats in a pan for 1-2 minutes. Remove from flame and keep aside.Heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal.When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves, asafoetida and red chilli and saute till the dal changes the colour.Add the onions, ginger and green chillies, mix well and saute till the onions turn tranculant.Add the water, salt and oats, mix well and cook till water is completely absorbed and oats are cooked.Garnish with coriander and serve hot with coconut chutney.
