Chick Pea Soup

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
Cooking Time: 25 Minutes
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
  • 1/4 dozen boiled kabuli chana (white chick peas)
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 2 cardamoms (elaichi), crushed
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
  • 1/2 cup potato cubes
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Baharat
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 tbsp grated cheddar cheese for the garnish
Method
  1. Heat the ghee in a broad pan, add cardamoms and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the onions and garlic and sauté till the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add the potatoes, tomatoes, baharat, salt and 4 cups of water and cook it till the potatoes are tender.
  4. Add the tomato purée, lemon juice, kabuli chana and parsley. Mix well and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Serve hot garnished with cheddar cheese.
