Apple Crumble

Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Baking Time: 10 Minutes
Baking Temperature: 180°C (360°F)
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
For The Stewed Apples
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 sticks cinnamon (dalchini)
  • 2 cups sliced apples , with the skin
For The Muesli
  • 2 tbsp quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp wheat bran
  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds (badam)
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
  • 1 tbsp raisins (kismis)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla essence
Other Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp oil for greasing
Method
For the stewed apples
  1. Combine the sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and ½ cup of water in a non-stick pan, mix well and bring to boil.
  2. Add the apples and simmer till the apples are soft. Keep aside.
For the muesli
  1. Combine the oats, wheat bran, almonds and walnuts and lightly roast them on a non-stick pan on a slow flame for 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Cool completely, add the raisins, cinnamon powder and vanilla essence and mix well.
  3. Lightly crush the mixture and keep aside.
How to proceed
  1. Place the stewed apple slices evenly in a greased baking tray, sprinkle the crushed muesli over it.
  2. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 5 minutes or till the muesli turns golden brown in colour. Serve immediately.
