Semolina Appe

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Fermenting Time: 4 hours.
Cooking Time: 40 mins
Makes 25 servings
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups semolina (rava)
  • 1 cup curds (dahi)
  • 2 tomatoes , chopped
  • 2 onions , chopped
  • 2 green chillies , chopped
  • salt to taste
  • oil for cooking
To Serve
  • coconut chutney
Method
  1. Beat the curds with 1/2 cup of water and then add the semolina and salt to make batter of dropping consistency.
  2. Cover and keep aside for 4 hours to ferment.
  3. Then, add the tomatoes, onions and green chillies to the fermented batter.
  4. Heat the appe mould on a medium flame and grease it with a little oil.
  5. Pour a spoonful of the batter into each mould.
  6. Cook till the outer surface becomes golden brown and then turn each appe upside down using a fork so as to cook the other side.
  7. Remove and repeat with the remaining batter.
  8. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
