Ingredients
- 1 cup chawli (cow pea / lobhia)
- 3/4 cup chopped spinach (palak)
- 3/4 cup chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp ginger-green chilli paste
- 1 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- 1 tbsp fruit salt
- salt to taste
- Wash and soak the beans for at least 6 hours. Drain.
- Add approximately ¾ cup of water and blend in a liquidiser to make a smooth batter.
- Add the spinach, fenugreek, oil, green chilli-ginger paste, asafoetida and salt and mix well into a batter.
- Put the steamer on the gas and when the water in the steamer starts to boil, add the fruit salt into the batter and mix well.
- Pour the batter into 3 greased thalis, put them in the steamer and steam for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Serve hot with green chutney.
